this bike is a thief magnet. and a fanny magnet. in fact, it's a magnet for everything. and a totally unstoppable force; i'm planning on hitting evens on it this season.

I posted up a photo sometime ago of just the frame but here is my bike as it stands right now. I still have to sort the wheels for the track as these are the wheels off my fixed gear bike I use on the street. I have to swap the tyres evertime before riding the track right now but it works.

Looks good rides well. I was told by the coach the other night to turn the stem up the other way so its a +15 he said "It much easier for sprinting this way due to center of balance" So I will give it a go next time and see what happens why the hell not.

I am going to the track on Thursday so lets see what goes on.

Jase have you been going to the improver sessions?  I'm keen to get along more often than the Trackdropouts sessions, happy to drive/share lifts etc.

i'd recommend everyone who has been bitten by the bug goes to the improvers; obviously they are run weekly, much more regularly.

the intention of the TD sessions was to get people along to the velodrome, as a group, stimulate interest. it's great that everyone is building up track-specific frames and getting jiggy with their tyre choices; once you've taken the plunge at newport it's a pretty addictive place. now and the spring is the ideal time to get accredited so if you do want to ride the track leagues in september you can go straight in. it also means you can ride the SQT sessions, which are totally evil hard work and make you very strong, or ill, or both.

i'm not sure after this session whether to run another or not – there's always mileage i think in taking groups of people who know each other along. it's a great day, a social thing, and you can get some serious cycling done. might possibly run it two ways – put it back on the forum and do a split – 2/3 experienced (i.e more than 5 times) and 1/3 beginners/novices. and open it up to whoever wants to come, first paid, first served. it doesn't have to be me organising it; i mean, i took the plunge, but it helps if someone does it because you need to pay up front ideally and then wait for the subs to come in. that's quite an undertaking. the availability of the track, and practical considerations mean that in reality it's possible to get about five or six sessions a year, one every 8 weeks or so.

Jetpack I will be at the improvers seassion every week after the trackdrop out sessions it would be before but I too busy.

Pj good words as always. After doing the first "taster" seassion that was is I was 100% involved and signed up for the 4 week course. I would say if you have been once or twice to the track then go do this first. Infact I was told by the coach you are not able to do the improvers untill you have completed the four week beginers course. Whatever jusy go and book on a course and dont just think you know it all after one or two rides at the track, hell I still dont know much after 5 3hour sessions.

If any would like anymore infofrom the dome post up here tonight as I will be at the for two hours Thursday and I can ask for you if you like.

It's finished!

But much to my dismay it seems there may be a case of 'ovalitus'. The drive chain is rather noisy and just didn't feel smooth; on closer inspection I noticed that there was a lot of change in chain tension as the cranks were being turned :(

Apart from a imperfect chainring (which I'm very surprised about considering it's a Miche Primato) is there anything else I should look to for causing the problem?

I had the same problem, one thing I tried was this… http://sheldonbrown.com/fixed……ml#tension

It kind of worked!

Red Moulton APB almost done (was rusty grey before); just waiting for a rim from Mr eBay. I have a Paul Moto BMX brake on the front; Paul Love Lever 2.5 on some bull bars. Bought a NoLogo Rear Track Hub from Charlie the Bike monger (£29.99), looks OK for the money.

Also have had Cadence build me a rear wheel with a NOS Fichtel & Sachs Torpedo Duomatic kick back hub (2 speed) for non-fixed days; complete with coaster brake.

That has to be the best matching colour bar tape I have ever seen in my life, nice! Front brake probably a good idea too..

Got this out of the Bath tip last week – spotted the Banana livery out of the corner of my eye. Has the 8-23 gas pipe steel tubing frame so nothing to write home about but looking forward to building it up.
