Cool idea. Pedantry – 17 April is a Saturday – is it the Friday or Saturday night you're planning on going?
Guess it's also worth mentioning Dunwich Dynamo is on 24/25 July this year. Use the above as training for an overnight ride to a grim fry up by the sea?
Shit, yeah, 16th – will edit!

Should be made compulsory that you have to go swimming in the sea at each beach……and don't anyone say 'it'll be too cold' ya big girls!

the cafe is pretty cool…..

Did a camping trip (sadly not on bike) along the south coast a couple of years ago and went there. The chip shop on the other side is good too. Also visited The De La Warr pavillion…

There's a lot of good places on the south coast. Worth organising a longer trip one day. Chichester to Dungeness via Brighton over a few days.

It is a desert! The only one in Europe? Really eerie and strangely beautiful place. Feels like the edge of the world. Went there last summer. Derek Jarman's house is great (felt bad for being really touristy looking at it though). We caught the miniature railway there, which made it more surreal. Crouching in little carriages. My son loved it and was in proportion.
That whole area right up through Kent is full of bikes in the summer. I guess partly because it's very flat.

incidentally – you'd probably like the natural world on bbc2 tonight – it's just finishing, but it's all about essex and it's a sort of philosophical paean to the wilderness by robert macfarlane – who wrote 'mountains of the mind' and it's an incredible programme, beautifully filmed, almost like herzog or something.
it's on the iplayer.

16th April I'll be off to SSEC http://ssec10.blogspot.com/ but like to think I'll be able to make it May 14th.
You can ride to the Dorset coast in a day, tends to be hilly in the middle though. Littlehampton is about 120miles but flatter so still doable.

Just got round to watching this. It was amazing. Thanks for the link PJ.
Great to see nature talked about as something that's not a seperate entity to us or other.
