That… is a bruise.
He seemed pretty ok when I met him heading back to the start/finish line. That little plaster was hiding a whole lot of hurt I guess. Jamie, are you alive?

Hit a car on Whiteladies whilst filtering. He went head-over-heels.
I didn't see it happen but I met him as I rode back from my checkpoint. He'd just been patched up, fucked front wheel etc so I walked with him on our way back.

People tend to seem ok for the first few hours after an accident. Adrenalin etc. I have to say Jamie started to look a bit pale before he walked home that evening though. That photo was a few days later when we trying to sort a replacement front wheel to keep him mobile.
My friend that got run over by the taxi in London got all the way to Italy the next day before his foot ankle ballooned and he started to feel like crap. I think shock can release endorphins to suppress pain and calm you.

i got hit by another cyclist in london, he came round the front of a bus on oxford street on the wrong side of the road. whilst i felt pretty bad at the time – my nose was pissing blood, i thought i'd got off lightly. it was an enormous collision. i felt freaked out for a few hours.
two days later i couldn't get out of bed, my neck and shoulders totally seized, agony, it was a torticollis or something, sort of whiplash related.
j-fray that looks scary, a nasty bruise. i've often got bits i can lend people to get back on the road. didn't know you'd had a stack, otherwise would have enquired as to your well-being at the jumble. take it easy.
