I'm not sure if any of you have come across / would be interested in this…
Good afternoon all
You may have heard that Cycling City sponsoring a cycling zone at this
year's Harbour Festival, which takes place on Saturday 31st July and Sunday
1st August.
An exciting development this year is a pedal powered stage – the power for
music and lights will be generated by the riders of 10 static bikes.
I think it would be great to have some groups scheduled in to ride the bikes
at pre-determined slots over the weekend and therefore I'm writing to you to
appeal for your help……
* Those of you in cycling clubs or organisations, could you muster up 10
volunteers to ride the bikes for say 30 minutes or an hour over the weekend?
This is a great opportunity to turn up in your branded t-shirts or fancy
dress and get some publicity for your group.
* Those of you working on engaging businesses in the Cycling City programme,
please could you ask your contacts if they can get a team together – again,
a nice way to show Bristol which businesses are committed to cycling and to
gain some publicity.
* Those of you with wider business contacts – can you think of anyone else
we might approach or who might wish to get involved?
If you are interested and think you can find some friends/colleagues to spin
the pedals, please let me and Rowan Matthieson know (e-mail addresses as
above) – ideally, please confirm whether you are interested in Saturday or
Sunday and rough preferred times – the stage will be open from 11am to 10pm
on Saturday and 11am to 7pm on Sunday.
Feel free to pass this mail on, if you can think of others that might be
willing to get involved.
It would be helpful to have indications of interest by the end of June.
Many thanks & kind regards
Martin
PS We have also arranged for a dedicated cycle parking area for up to 2000
bikes at the Harbour Festival – more information to follow in the Festival
programme
