Might be joining people on the Clevedon route now as not sure Bike Project has managed to get organised in time.

My bike is making worrying clicking and ticking noises now though.. some from front hub and maybe BB too.

Anyone else joining this?

I may well attend this, never ridden more than 20 miles on my fixie in all the time I've owned it, but Ed T is persuading me to join. Will put a brake on my bike today just incase there are a lot of hills, which I can imagine there are!

I was supposed to be doing the London > Brighton ride but i pulled out as it would have been a right faff to get there and back then found the flyer for this event last week, im definitely down!!

Is it all us fixed guys or will there be friends and family too? My girlfriend might come and she's on a heavy Pashley!

I'm likely to do the Portishead ride now as we have a few people from the Bike Project interested again. Been to Clevedon a few times too but never ridden to Portishead.

Not to convice anyone to leave the Clevedon group but… anyone who wants a flatter shorter ride is welcome to join us.

Apparently the Clevedon Challenge sets off at 9.20am: http://www.betterbybike.info/a…..-the-rides

General Information and Ride Start Times

All rides set off from Millennium Square and finish at the Harbourside (Lloyds Amphitheatre, Millennium Square and Anchor Square).
Start times are staggered throughout the morning from 9.20am – 11.15am.
9.20 am Clevedon Challenge
9.40 am Failand Heights
10.00 am Sustrans Ride to Portishead

11.15 am Family Fiesta

Approximate route lengths are given below. Please note, all ride start times, maps and important information will be detailed in the Rider Information Booklet.  The booklet and emergency contact information sticker can be obtained by registering for the event.

Hello comrades.

I dont know any of you's off of here, but am up for a ride to clevedon on my fixed. I like riding distances on fixed, I done most of my john o groat > lands end training last year on the fixed. I would of liked to do the whole ride fixed but that would have taken ages, only had 8 days spare, bloody hard enough on gears.

registering…, sounds like something people with gears do, but if you cant do the ride without registering I guess it'll have to be done.

OK then see yous tomorrow

I've done it before without registering. Just means you don't get the ride routes booklet and emergency contact number sticker pack etc. I think it's mainly for their liability insurance so they can give you safety info / advice and disclaimers in the pack. Advance registering online is to help them guesstimate the amount of stewards they'll need and to have attendance figures to show off after the event.

Adam EF said:Of course they might have changed it all this year and be checking as you set off, but can't imagine that'd be very practical with the amount of people… very unlikely.

Gav, you take one of your wheels off.

Or Jason could, but as he was first to dibs the two wheels setup it'd be fairer if you could wheelie it Gav.

Or do somehting weird like paint your bike bright pink (?) and that'd be enough. Not sure you'd want to do something that foolish though.

Or you could do what someone did a couple of years back and bust through the cones swearing with your windows down and join the family ride in a hulking great Mercedes at 40mph down the portway. True story — all the kids on stabilisers learnt to steer pretty quickly that day!

Maybe Jason could ride with 2 wheels but no brakes, we could see who he is then, actually no brakes sorry that would be silly ;-)
