i've now found a new court to use. just need to run the idea past the youth centre it is attached to. it's in the classic style walled basketball court, complete with chain link fence and graffiti all over the place. proper urban polo at its best.

i'm guessing you're talking about the place in my street?  up in odd down?  quite a bit of broken glass on the court usually, and probably the odd needle … it's a bit, erm, gritty up here!

I'm still itching to play, no comments for a while so hopefully everyone is still keen to go ahead with this. I think the next couple of weeks are out of the question do to the white stuff althoug I did receive a text from a Sustranser claiming they were playing 'snowlo' last Thursday!

Any news on the Odd Down venue?

Any progress on getting a court in Weston?

Things should start warming up again in Bristol this month with lighter evenings and even the council have decided to put on the lights at Dean Lane, evening sessions should be the go before too long. Watch this space.

We still need that Bath/Bristol decider ;-)

I'd give it a try if I'm around, what's recommended material for those wheel discs? is it just cut to shape & zip-tied? any other protection/strengthening advised, or just not the best bike?

Most people just use an Estate agents For Sale sign boards, zip tied onto the spokes.

Amari Plastics in Bristol sell and 8 x4 foot sheet for £8 which conveniently does 4 wheels on both sides (2 bikes), you can then buy a large quantity of zip ties online for a few quid or I can give you a handful. I found that a 30cm radius circle fits a 700c wheel.

Sure georgie-boy, come along to a game and you can have some. We will be playing Thursday evening at Dean Lane if the council manage to fix the lighting situation, the lights were on last week but there appears to be a fault again. I will let you know if they come back on.

Should be 6.30pm onwards ish

Thursday Dean Lane polo is now on at 6.30pm now that the lights are on.. at least for the time being. There is a fault so sometimes they get tripped. Lights are timed to go off at 9pm.

We aren't too rough yet but wheel covers are advised if you don't want bent spokes, I would advise some good strong wheels as you can take side impacts sometimes. Nouveau taco'd a wheel last week.!
